Although we have considered privately schooling our son since we found out we were expecting him the decision earlier this year to make it happen did not come too easily. Some of the questions that came to our minds include:

• How will he adapt to the experience?

• Is this the best thing for him?

• Will it be too intense in terms of scheduling complexity?

• What do we need to do to make sure he keeps a solid friends and social network?

Letting other people know

The responses when you tell people about your decision varies from “wow” to “we’ve always wanted to do it, let us know how your experience is” to -in a couple of occasions- a bit of shock and reactive defense for the traditional education system.
