Now
This section is meant to be updated about what I am doing Now. I will try to update it regularly. (latest update April 2024)
I now live in Cascais, Portugal
My family and two kids are my most precious things and I spend my time and brainshare accordingly. But I am also obsessed about building companies, solving problems, working with great people and inspiring my kids to be great.
This now section is inspired by Derek Sivers and the NowNowNow project:

Founded AstroLabs (astrolabs.com) in 2013 and after 8 years it is now run by a great CEO and management team. I am now on the board supporting the CEO in that capacity.
AstroLabs has never raised external funding and is 100% owned by the two founders and the management team.
The company now has 3 thriving business lines, 100+ team members, and continued compounding growth in large markets.I have been mentoring tech entrepreneurs for the past 7 years and will probably continue to do that in some capacity.
In 2018 I started working on a book project. It’s a book I want to give to my son in a few years. It will include family history and notes from his first few years before long term memories form as well as chapters on values, mental models and other advice I can share. I want to dedicate more time to the book with a goal of writing a chapter every quarter.

Thinking
These are topics I have in my mind at the moment (and, for most, for years):
- Solutions for predatory financial behavior by financial institutions (including the most recognized banks) around the world.
- Waste: Energy waste, material waste, food waste and most of all the waste of human potential (time, brain capacity etc).
- Education: With the infinite availability of great learning resources who’s helping guide people who can leverage these new assets. How do we transition from learning to practicing and doing?
- Small business entrepreneurship: A lot of the best resources are focused on scaling/tech startups and small business entrepreneurs don’t get as much support with very high quality content/how-tos/etc.
Giving back
I have had a 20+ year aspiration of creating science/math/tech museums around the world and I started to spend more time researching how they can become a reality.
Reading
The Last couple of books I enjoyed reading: Keeping at it by Paul Volcker and Leading with Character by Jim Loehr

Investing
While I am still mildly active in angel investing, I am not open to unsolicited opportunities at the moment. I am mostly invested in VC and PE funds at this stage. To read more about what I currently invest in check this page
